Hello,

Im not sure about any clubs in Neath but I do think the Garret 150 or 250 is a great machine and introduction to the hobby. I used the 250 for a few years and a friend of mine used the 150 and we both found loads of stuff with them and I think the young man will do well. They do ok on the sand if your thinking of trying the beaches but on the wet parts you will have to turn the sensitivity down and only dig the good solid signals.

Welcome to the hobby young man and good luck to ya !  Wink

Hi,

I'm in Skewen and unfortunately haven't heard of any Neath based clubs.

There is a Garret 250 for sale on one of the FaceBook groups for £100.  I'll send the guy a message to get his phone number for you if you like.

The problem you may have with the Garrett 250 is apparently it is not very good on sand, and guaranteed you are going to end up on Aberavon Beach until you start getting permissions from local farmers etc, you cant just take it to the woods or parks as you will get told off.

Go to this website and give this chap a call, he is in Staffordshire but he posts his items out with no postage fees.  He is happy to give advice, I bought mine from him, seems like a straight up chap.  Look at his second hand page, it gives an idea if its beach worthy or not.

If you end up struggling to find any fields to use drop me a message and you can join me when I go to one.

Cheers,
Steve.

For some reason I thought they had a members cap, thanks for posting Byron, I'll look into that too.

Unfortunately no clubs in Neath, and yep I think that Swansea club is limited.
I have a 250 for sale at 100, it's only a year old and used about a dozen times by my 9 year old son. It's no good on wet sand, but he has had good find on pasture and ploughed.

The SwanseaMetal Detecting  club [SMDC ]has NO cap on it's membership and new members are always welcome. The only thing that I'm unsure about is the age stipulation. We meet every other Wednesday at The Coopers Arms just behind the Liberty Stadium.
