Little wonder that a trip to Barry Island always means finding pre decimal coinage. The photo is 1938!

The oldest I have found is a George III penny - anyone found older coinage on Barry beach?

Cheers
Neil

Well done Pat - any idea what century it was? Plenty of Roman activity in the area. I remember as a kid the excavations around the corner in Cold Knap.

By the way, ss that you in the first photo, on the left, with the hat on? Wink

See you soon.

Cheers

I heard somewhere that there was a hoard of larger follis found on Friars head - but can't find a reference to it.

And of course there are those crionid fossils on the headland - found some flints up there too Smiley

My favourite beach, and that's why years and years of losses continually turn up and always will. May be the crowds are not as numerous but annually much is lost including GOLD......more storms like last year please yum yum Grin Grin
