Today's club dig was well attended with about 20 members and some guests from other clubs, it started off like a scene from gorillas in the mist, but got better later on.  Even Deadlock made a new friend  Cheesy

Here are a few finds from the day, BTW this was my 3rd Roman brooch from this site and Renwick managed another as well, so much for it being detected well in the past...

Any ideas or comments welcome on the finds and others may have their own photos to add...

Any ideas on the stud mount "face" ?  looks old and was found in close proximity to the roman stuff.

Dont forget our Hammered Talk on 27th November, book your place NOW ( www.herefordsearchers.co.uk ) Everyone on DW welcome, but you MUST pre-book NOW....

Had a cracking day out with the guys. Even if it was a bit foggy to start off.
My best of the day was a nice lead token. A strange small bead with a lot of age to it -any ideas please- and this lovely early clay pipe bowl with a nice clear makers mark on the foot.
Roll on the next one   Smiley

The mount with the face is medieval:

I'd argue the description of a 'crowned' head.  I read somewhere about the Stag being held in high esteem by many early peoples and being depicted in head dresses of some.

Maybe it's older than I.D as well.  The other possibility is that it depicts 'The Man in The Green'
