A rare collection of about 200 Roman coins has been stolen from a house in Cardiff.

Police say some of the coins, which were stored in a homemade coin box, were issued under the Roman Republic.

Historical bank notes and stamps from World War Two, along with Iraqi notes from the time of Saddam Hussein were also taken during the daytime burglary.

It happened between 10:00 and 12:00 BST on 23 October at Waun Fach, Pentwyn, and witnesses are asked to call 101.

South Wales Police Det Con Rhian Clayton from Rumney CID said: "This burglary took place in broad daylight and whoever was responsible smashed a glass panel to the front door which would have made a lot of noise.

"We are appealing for anyone who may have heard something or seen anyone behaving suspiciously in the area of Waun Fach on Thursday morning to contact us.

"We also want to hear from anyone who may have been offered any of the stolen property."

Scum bags, hope they get them back  Undecided Its the sort of thing that may turn up at a booty ???unless they were stolen to order.
