the Digital Shield Technology is just an improved shield against EMI, the LCD Serialization is just a readout of the serial number it also has a fast processor but like the Deus if you run it fast you cut the depth quite considerably Wink

Ah, I see.

200 quid for a few tweeks seems expensive. Wonder if these mods are added to the existing board or whether it's complete board replacement..

Too rich for my blood unfortunately  Sad

I've got an old T2 which is a great machine but with power lines or electric fences it's nigh on useless. I presume that Fisher do the same mod for Teknetics machines but that price seems a bit ott to me.

Dusty I expect they just change boards as that's the cheapest way and the price is to deter rather than attract getting it done as they would rather sell you a new machine, as you say these are only tweaks just another add on to get you to part with your cash Wink

That makes me appreciate what XP have done for free with their Deus updates, which none of the other manufacturers have done to date. All the other major manufacturers have brought out an upgraded model and charged more for it !

So will XP soon enough, they have too as it's a micro hobby and so new models are a must or the manufacturers would go bust if the Deus had failed at breaking in to the US market you would probably have a new model already. Ironically the technology has not changed (and can't) since the late 70's and any improvements are indirect from other industry sectors which makes most new models a case of "if you can't blind them with science then baffle them with bull s__t Wink

I have no doubt that XP will bring out a new machine but unlike other makers it will be new. It won't be like Minelab, Garrett or Fisher releasing  a model and then later releasing a new improved version costing more and with only a couple of bells and whistles.

Funny you should mention baffle them with bulls*it. I read an interview with one of the guys who helped design the F75/T2 when asked what's the secret to selling metal detectors he said psychology..  Grin

Unfortunately you can't say that until it's been released, the Deus is a lovely machine to use being so light and very clever in it's compactness but there is nothing new about the system.
