Love the silver tree; could be a kabbalah emblem. Any inscriptions on the back?

As for where to start..............I tend to do three different areas. Above the high water mark, where many of sun worshippers spend the day lazing on their towels, the low water line where the swimmers come out of the water shaking the water from their hands, the mid point between the high and low water lines where I zigzag to and fro for the length of the beach.

Some days are diamonds and some days are stones! Last week I spent a good time on both the wet and the dry sand and came back with very little for my efforts; a couple of WWII projectiles, three brass .303 cartridge cases, and one rotting decimal penny! But the day is never wasted; one often finds clues to follow up on the next visit.

My biggest problems are my detectors. The EuroAce hates the wet sand and the CS4PI can't tell the difference between a gold ring and a steel washer! I just have to plan my day and use the detector that is best suited to my plans for that day. Dry sand at the top of the beach gets hammered with the EuroAce and the CS4PI comes with me onto the wet, all the way down to the low water line.

My oldest coin find has been a George III halfpenny but with the Romans and the Vikings having passed close by I anticipate older finds; once I have completed my research for the area.

Don't give up on beaches. Give it your best try, and then try some more.

Good luck and happy hunting.  Grin

Well found Al.  Only one thing better than a bit of silver  Wink

If you get time out I'd suggest one of the beaches on the west coast.  A bit further to go but I often hear of some of the finds and they seem to do better over there.
Love to know how many bits of tin can you dug up.

Day three
23 ring pulls,  to many bits of aluminium,  3 fishing weights,  2 snap swivels,  and 46 pence. Spoke to old guy who said I should try the other side of the beach.
