I know the area very well but haven't detected there.

Popular beaches include where you are at Freshwater East, Broadhaven [just a couple of miles away] and Barafundle [ditto], Angle and Freshwater West. Manorbier too is just a few miles away and the castle is pretty much right on the beach.

Of those, Broadhaven is probably your best bet as it's the most popular. Has dunes at top of beach and at low tide lots of little caves to explore. It's a beautiful part of the world - have a great few days.

Not sure of the permission protocol of those mentioned mind, they may be National Trust land. Roll Eyes

Newgale is a cracking beach, very popular, stretches for miles, huge amount of sports happen there too.
Great campsite and lovely pub there also.

Hi Al,  you wont do much better than Freshwater.  Like all beaches it depends on the sand. Don't know what the latest storms have done, I haven't been on beaches for a couple of weeks.
Old fella called Ted found a couple of sovereigns on Freshwater the Summer before last so that's encouraging. It's very popular with holiday makers as well so it should keep you going for a few days.

Just for you Al.  here's a link to one that I use.   Not sure if time change is automatic though.  You'll just have to see how it changes over the next few days.  You can select other ports a bit nearer, if you know them.

Or there's the Admiralty one.  I tend to think it's more accurate.  Just click on the dot nearest to where you want.  It shows tides at Standard time so will be O.K. for next week without any messing around changing times.
