I've been looking at it since you asked but I honestly can't think of a use for it, its obviously missing something above the glass that was the shield shape but was that coloured glass which when mounted in front of the bottom piece would give more sparkle? And even then why use lead? lead as a fixing is most commonly used in stonework.......must have been one heck of a glitzy wall Grin

Some idea of size would be useful. I was thinking along the line of some sort of mould. But as Geoff said , lead ?  it wouldn't stand up to the temperature required for firing.
It's certainly an odd one.  I think it's going to be one of those 'thingies' that we come across. Worth hanging onto though. You never know when an explanation might suddenly pop up.

Gosh, that's very tiny. It almost knocks it into the jewellery bracket.  That might make more sense of the glass or maybe not.

Still can't understand the lead.

Id say its a lead gaming piece with a glass insert, they made all different types with different inserts.....Its about the right size.

Geoff I haven't a link but this is some I found after a quick Google its the closest thing I can think of it could be.. but obviously of a different design, looking at it I don't think it got many uses
