Hi thanks for letting me join, I'm completely new to metal detecting and have bought myself a garrett 250 don't know if this was a good choice or not. I live in Carmarthenshire just off jct 49. I have about 80 aches of my own land to practice on but I know half of it may have been disturbed by mining. Would like to meet up with a few people who are local who would be willing to help me get started.

Welcome to the DW Forum Tom, You've chosen well with the Garrett as a starter machine. Look out for the next rally on here and come along.

Hi,

I'm not too far from you, just down off j44.  I have nowhere near 80 acres but did detect in my garden and found a toy horse Cheesy

My first proper machine should arrive in a day or so, happy to join you at some point for a dig about.

Steve.

Hi SkyLine-Tom, I am fairly close to you in Newcastle Emlyn. I am so new I am still waiting for my detector to arrive! When it does I will be trying it out around the house and the local sites. Have you found a local club yet?

Hi Romanytony, you still live in Emlyn buddy? I've just got an Etrac and joined the site today and looking for a hunting buddy!

Him"Skyline-Tom" big welcome to Detecting Wales.
Good choice you made going for a Garrett Ace250, it was the machine that i started out on,its a great machine, and in my personal estemation is even better than its bigger brother the EURO ACE.
I actually found my first hammered with the ACE 250.
Hope you find all you go searching for, good luck!!👍

if you live close to j49 then swanseamdc is for you. we have a rally twice a month on average and new sites coming, we meet twice a month at the cooper arms neath road opposite the swans football stadium. Next meeting 28th come  and try us out. if you can't make rally date we also have any time farms.
