Just had to find out exactly what was under all that grot so out comes my trusty nail file. Just a little file on the edge and there it was. Gleaming gold in the Sunlight a lovely glimpse of what it would have looked like when it was made (whatever it is)  presume the metal is bronze not gold  Roll Eyes

Val last time I chipped of crud like that was at Aberavon, it turned out to be a victorian 9 ct. St. Christopher  Wink Shocked

Unfortunately Paul, I don't think I'm that lucky.   Having said that, I did the same with a lump of black crud from Saundersfoot beach and it turned out to be a Bull Head 6d.
