I have been busy last few days in the fields this is my first of 3 posts. I had intended to go to one of my medieval fields which I knew had been ploughed unfortunately it had not been rolled and I was not in the mood to go up and down the furrows  Angry so I popped in to my favourite medieval field on the same farm only 300 yards away, this I knew was in stubble and will be till spring so it will be more workable over the winter and I will fall back on it at a later date, I had the Deus so gave it only 1/2 hour until I wimped out due to the stubble being to long and stiff however the gilded mount came up and is in fine condition. I then went on to the field I had the crossbow brooch from as it is easier to work as it had been cultivated and seeded. As it happened it turned out to be a good move and I came up with a sestertius  as usual with these big bronzes are in worn condition but have a nice patina. Looks like Antonius Pius??

Looks more like Marcus Aurelius to me - although he'd have a bad headache as his head seems to have been hit with a spade Smiley
