Hi all, got out tonight for a couple of hrs, was well pi**ed off  Angry just scrap lead then i had a scratchy signal and thought oh well bit of copper for the scrap bucket  Wink and ha ho this little chappy appeared  Smiley Smiley, i'm thinking wirral brooch but i am deffo no expert so any id on brooch and age would be great  Smiley Smiley.
Oh and celtic spikey thanks for saying about feeling guilty for putting up pics of roman finds  Cheesy, can you try talking about maybe a nice saxon strap end or at least a patterned spindle whorl please  Grin Grin Grin

it is similar in design and detail to the one i found, although yours has a larger 'catch plate'  (hope ive got that right, the bit the pin sits against lol )

Yes you deffo got the catch plate right lol, but my wirral brooch like yours is a lot fatter than this one!!, i will bring to next dig for u to look at  Wink

cheers it will be nice to see it in person  Smiley i remember there being a specialist book on brooches, might be worth considering if you have a nice roman site to play with! its called something like 'hattatt'
