Found this today as I went for a couple of hours on that small roman patch I hadon Tuesday. Bear in mind nothing modern has come out of it and this was 12+ inches deep under a large tree root so must have been there for some time. I did have a couple of grotty romans well worn and a very oddly made whorl and three normal ones again.
It's bronze and certainly looks the part. I wandered some kind of strap holder, end or something.

Cheers guys. Well chuffed. I have been on a bit of a blank with artifacts and decent coins then BOOM a stunning denarius and an artifact.

Nice one - it fits well with the republican denarius - generally the earlier coins are associated with military sites.
