I found these two metal objects some time ago & I've been reluctant to scrap them as they look interesting especially the rectangular strap with the patterns on.

Any ideas of what they were or age please?

Thanks in advance

Bottom one looks like a book clasp. Not sure about the first one.

Nice ones BB, top one has a lot of crude rivetting or repair going on there, dunno what it would be with the rivet bang in the middle but looks quite old , maybe a similar date to the book clasp 17th cent. ?

Thanks all, my first book clasp!

I was wondering if the other thing may be the tip of a staff or something similar?

Thanks again

I would've said the top 2 are the metal end of a scabbard, the rivet plumb in the centre is putting me off the idea tho'  Huh
