This item came up from a rally held over in Essex over the weekend.

Several suggestions have been made to the ID of the item, would be interesting to see what the DW boys and girls think it may have been used for?

No fixing point(s) and I am guessing the photograph is the front of the item, all the holes are not quite a uniform size.

Many thanks..............Doug

Only a guess Doug but I'd say the smaller holes could have been the fixing points. If you look at them they do seem to have a slight recess around them.
Any ones guess as to what it adorned, maybe horse harness or belt. Huh

Interesting find Doug, my guess would be a pendant worn around the neck, using a leather cord.

Possible, but it looks to be a bit on the large size for around the neck?

Hi Doug,  Johns just had a look at your find and he suggests it could be a joist joint strengthener.  Undecided

Certainly a possibility.

A couple of wild guesses  Cheesy

A brass fitting from a wooden scent box?  or a small air vent from the back of a old cabinet?
