I was going to suggest spindle whorls but they seem too big.  Maybe loom weights.?  They seem to have a nice pattern on them.  Nice finds.

I would say it's a spindle whorl 40mm is a little on the large side as Val says but yours looks a bit thin so the weight, which is the important bit, could be just right, I can't see it being a loom weight as it's way too small or light most positively id'd loom weights are up in the 100'sg range and even relatively modern ones many are made from stone Wink

37g is good in fact 10-15g is a little low (are you certain they are whorls and not net weights?) as most tend to be between 25-40g the weight of the whorl is dependant on the thickness of the thread you wanted also the the type of material you were using ie flax for linen would probably be heavier than wool. David are you sure it's lead ? A brown patina isn't usual, it's normally white/grey.  In view of Geoffs comments I wonder if it's something else.  It doesn't show any sign of use, which is strange.  The pattern is also strange.
It almost looks like a token or coin with the raised edges.  Is it thicker in the middle or flat.

Might be  worth showing it to your local FLO.

it is flat apart from the raised rims outer and inner edges   it  does have nice patterning on it and yes its lead but has a brown colouring on it i found it in a field but a very sandy field and wondered if the sand had turned it brown

Lead is lead and does what lead does and that is oxidise, no matter where it's buried.  Suggests it's either not lead or a mix.

It's certainly very interesting.  I love finds like this. Can't beat a good mystery. Roll Eyes
