What on earth is it and what does it mean? On a bottle forum they were talking about a stoneware jar someone had found that once contained the ‘deceitful liquid’. The theories of what it was were imaginative, but wrong.

‘It is a cream for removing bruises or some other quack medicine’ was the accepted response. Another theory was that you added the contents of the jar to ink ‘to maintain the right viscosity’. They should read my blog!

An interesting read John, thanks. It reminds me of a couple of Sherlock Holmes storier, The retired colourman especially.

Interestingly, though I don't know if there was a connection, Eastman Colour were quite big in the film industry years ago.

Interesting post John, you see I do read them. Roll Eyes
