Hullo,

Found this a few days, I think it's a Roman Fibula, but I'm no expert on Roman artifacts. If anyone could give me a clearer idea of what it is and how old it is I'd be very happy. It's about an inch and half long.

Many thanks, Kevin.

Many thanks Taff, I looked up Roman Dolphin brooches on Google. This looks like it could well be a crude version of a dolphin brooch. Oldest thing I've ever found!  Shocked

Sorry Kevin I didn't get around to answering you, it's a little flat to be a true Dolphin brooch so would be grouped as a T shaped brooch or a Colchester derivative which pushes it up to around the 80's AD but still firmly in the 1st century.
Very well done Wink

Thanks very much Chef. 80ish AD is till the oldest thing I've ever found. So I'm very pleased. Much appreciated.
