Keeper of the Lights

« on: July 20, 2014, 07:41:08 PM »

I went out late this afternoon for a couple of hours, first time out for about three weeks. I decided to go to a field I've covered many
times but only turned up some pre decimal coins. In this field there are a few oak trees surrounded by nettles,so I decided to be
a brave boy and walked into the thick of them swinging as I made my way to the middle. First finds were a couple of George 111 grots ,and  a nice Vicci penny, Then what I presume is a love token [ bent twice ] and a a nice buckle, and lastly I had a bit of an iffy
signal I dug down about 6 inches and  oh boy I thought I'd found my second gold sovereign, I cleaned off a bit more of the mud but it wasn't to be ,It was a 1924 2 francs coin

Well done Dylan. Nice buckle with a lovely patina.

Can't beat a stand of mature Oaks.  One like that gave me my 1st ring and a hand full of three pences. Very popular places  Wink
