I'm not 100% but quietly confident that it's a coin of Henry IV of Castile (1454-74) and is  version of the one on the link Wink For my money that makes it more interesting than a Saxon and certainly a rarer find.

Forget what I put before it's even better it's a billon "Real de vellón" of Henry II of Castile and Leon (1368-79)
as here;

No certainly not common Jimi at least not here in the UK, as said Henry was king of Castile and Leon which was a Kingdom in what is now part of North West Spain. Where the interest for me lies is the fact this coin isn't dated to any particular year and if we use a bit of romantic licence then the history of the coin becomes interesting,
Henry II was proclaimed king in 1366 after ousting his brother Peter I (Pedro the cruel.....great name) who was his brother but in the very next year he was temporarily kicked off the throne by Peter with great help from an English Army under Edward the Black Prince and John of Gaunt at the Battle of Najero at which it states that the Castilian cavalry were cut down by the "English" longbow.
Now this is the same army (time wise)bthat defeated the French at Crecy and we know that a large percentage of the bowmen were in fact Welsh and not English, so could this coin be the last evidence of a Welshman's part in the battle, brought back as either war booty or a memento?
Great find Wink
