Hi, found this tonight any ideas  Huh it is about 2.5" diameter solid lead. lovely pattern  Smiley

Hmmm, just been browsing images and maybe saxon, viking lead alloy brooch ?? thanks val, just wish it was light when i dug it as i just slung it in my pocket thinking more scrap lead  Sad, and no not night hawking, just the nights are drawing in so fast now  Angry

Just cleaned it now val and you can deffo see there was a pin going across the back of it fixed side and attachment side.

Would they have been the remains of iron lugs? It is most likely a bridle boss. They a fairly common with that beaded edge effect.

Alright roger i found this a while back also made of lead and has iron marks on back were pin or studs would have gone.

well found my disc on another finds site exactly the same and they say it is lead carriage crest.

These all appear to be horse harness mounts (bridle bosses).
