Is this a roman town or medieval as to straight for plough

Well I'm the last one to give an expert opinion     but I'd say it's probably neither. It seems to be marked out, praps for re-planting.
If it's close enough the best way to find out is go look.

If its an ancient settlement and in Wales do a search on this site for any records. Search area by nearest town on the drop down list.

Though it looks more like drainage ditches, mainly because the diagonal line feature divides the trees,  I would assume a Roman road
would have little or no indication on them.

Looks like old 'allotments', maybe land divided between farm workers / villagers to grow food on?

try looking at the area in bing maps, and use the ordnance survey overlay in its options, might give you some more info on the surrounding area.

I'm with Ian in saying that they look like drainage marks as they're still very prominent, if that area is, as looks, cleared woodland then if managed ie forestry the drainage/irrigation that they use can be quite complex but as Val says at the end of the day with landscape archaeology you have to be on the ground to see what's happening so go and just visit the site.

You don't say where you are Titanium but I can tell you that The Forestry Commission are currently clearing lots of wood-land in the south Pembs area, leaving huge areas devoid of all Confers.  They are, however, leaving the broad leaved trees standing.
I imagine that from the air those areas would look like the one you're interested in.  I can also see where the machinery has worked cutting and clearing the wood.  They seem to be very methodical and have left clear track marks.

So,  my conclusion (for what it's worth)  cleared forest,  not settlement.   Having said that, it's amazing how much has been found in these areas.  You Pays your money and takes your chance.

And as I've just mentioned on another thread if it's Forestry Commission land then forget it as they have a blanket ban on metal detecting
