Well done there Diggaduff.  Looks like you did some digging anyway. Maybe the lead thingy is a shot that hit it's mark and some nice bag seals.  Is the other item part of a clog clasp ?

Your right about the soil, it's gone hard. I noticed the same this afternoon. Was supposed to be digging black stuff on beach but couldn't even get into the car park. Should have known better.
Ended up in my latest field and found a George 2nd Half Penny and B. all else.

Hi Val, yes that is a clog clasp and the bottom item is part of a toy soldier, the lead item is cone shaped so I think it was made for a purpose Wink

I've got one that is cone shaped but it has a hole through it.   Praps they didn't round to finishing it. Undecided

Hi titanium, yes they are lead sack seals  Smiley I'm interested in the Victorian cone shaped piece of lead as I haven't seen one before but it may be nothing Huh

Diggaduff,  I hadn't realised that the last pic is the bottom of the lead thingy.  It's got to be a weight, can't think of anything else it could be.   There are several on the Colchester site the same shape,in the Trade Weights section, but none seem to be stamped.
Be nice to think it was a first.
