I had a couple of hours detecting today with my two boys, its always trouble Cheesy todays hunt was cut short by them kicking mud dust around Undecided it was far to dry for detecting really, I did have a few large deep finds but most was surface due to the dry conditions.

The finds made was a cut half, pendent hanger, silver florin, and a possible coin weight what's very worn.

The finds of the day went to my mate this time with the best early milled silver George 1st shilling I have seen, and a very fine detailed noble weight, plus a hammered or two Roll Eyes his photos will follow Wink
Them two little chaps need a detector in there hands Dale bless them,  Wink great bit of bonding with there dad, nice picture and a nice looking field but won't be long before it's a different colour  Roll Eyes love the finds well done mate Wink Wink

Going through my find box I came across the hammered I found in April. I thought it was a halfpenny from the London mint, I was never able to get a positive id on it as things never matched up, so this afternoon I was determined to id it....... I got out big bertha (1998 coin book)... I found out its a very large farthing Huh I never realised there was heavy weight farthings struck at 6.65 grains not long after it was reduced to 5.5 grains that's why the coin is so large and confusing to me.
Its the reversed N's type not mentioned in Spink....Iv added a pic of the coin next to the books example, and a shot of it next to a reduced Richard farthing to show the difference Wink  Plus a 1p
