Paid a second visit to the building development this morning and spent several hours detecting in beautiful weather. Plenty of coins kept turning up and some nice pieces of brass to add to the scrap bin. I even managed to find a bit of cheap bling but can't decide if it is supposed to be an ear-ring or a ring.

The EuroAce behaved it's self really well after fitting brand new batteries and checking that the contacts were ok. My pinpointing even improved.  Wink

Strange thing; I found a number of cut pieces of decimal coinage. Mostly pieces of 2p pieces, but none were close together.  Undecided

Hi Val,
my pinpointing has even improved. Must be all the practice. 80 per cent of the time the target was bang in the middle of the hole!!

You lucky fellah! My son is a site engineer; I suppose I should see if he can get me onto any sites. Problem is, he is in Australia!   Cry

Isn't it nice when that happens.(not often enough with me)    Just dig a nice little plug and it's just sitting there waiting to come out and be loved. Grin

I think that the accuracy is more down to the double D coil. Once I have located the target, I slowly move the coil left and right whilst drawing it back towards me. As soon as the machine falls silent, I do the same again at a 90deg angle and bingo the little blighter should be within an area no wider than a border spade blade. OK, some times it's in the side wall of the hole!

I do the same with the Explorer se I hardly use the pinpoint mode as I get good pinpointing results using this method with
a Patapus coil.

I was always frustrated with the pinpointing facility on the EuroAce; some times it was spot on and some times not so good. I put it all down to my lack of experience pinpointing, but as soon as I started doing my pinpointing the above way my accuracy improved a hundred fold and I now cut a turf no bigger than the width of a garden border spade.

Ok, now and then the target is in the wall of the hole. But yes, I find pinpointing a lot better now!  Wink
