Interestingly enough, the denarius seems to be a hybrid - the obverse is Elagabalus, but the reverse has a trp number (regnal year effectively) that points to Caracalla.....

Col's roman is a silver ant of Treb Gallus, reverse Liberalitas Avgg.

Amongst the others, I've seen a Claudius Gothicus (Spes Avgg reverse) and the usual smatterings of c. 320-340AD coins (and I think one Victorinus, but it was upside down).

Nice brooches - funnily enough I've found an almost exact match for the disc brooch - and apparently they are more common on the eastern seaboard than this side of the country.

Definitely a good site. I'll have to plan to not commit myself elsewhere to come on the return next year Smiley

Had a most enjoyable day, my finds were a bit on the thin side, did manage a cracking George the 3rd 1696 sixpence, and a very old  penknife, detector played up in the rain, to curtail my Roman finds lol, can't wait to return next year, a big thank you to all at DW for making it possible...

Brilliant report there Neil. Great read. It was a fantastic site and it was great to see so much being found. I had one of my best ever days detecting with the amount of different finds I amassed. Thanks again Neil and chef geoff for taking the photos of my finds and telling me what most of them were. I had a brilliant day and it's all thanks to the DetectingWales team. Just looking forward to the next one now. Thanks again.
Here is some pictures of my other finds.

Great write up and top day!

5 Roman for me (could not keep up with Rob though!) plus an old bent ring (pictured towards the bottom of the second set of Neil's photos).

Not sure what period the ring? But got some nice markings on it.
