I've only been out with her twice but she came up with the goodies on our first date  Roll Eyes
I don't know what other people think of the Elite, but she seems to sing to me if she wants me to dig, and kind of growl if she doesn't  Tongue

Hi all i just wanted to let anyone who may be interested know that after having a very unstable sov gt (now sold) i got an elite and it is 100% better, no falsing at all on the beach and after a good day out with a decent sovereign i can now see what all the fuss is about, im not saying the gt isn't as good as the elite im just saying mine wasn't.  there was someone else on here with the same problems as me.

so basically this thread is for anyone who wonders why their sov gt is not as good as people make them out to be,there must be a batch of lemons about.

Just out of curiosity, in what way are they unstable or faulty.  To the untrained  ears like mine is there any dead give away?  Or is it as simple as that they keep switching themselves off or the programmes keep altering?    Probably a stupid question but because I m hoping to get either a GT or ELITE i wanted to know what to keep my eye open for as I,m a novice.
    Thnx.      Shaun

It was incredibly noisy like there were good targets all over the place.if you have ever stood under power cables or next to another detector it was exactly like the interference you get with that.it actually made my head want to explode.ive read a lot about this not so much in UK (but some) it seems more common in the u.s people just live with it I couldn't.

You will probably find its the coil is faulty just bought brand new on from a main dealer could not stable the machine. Luckly enough my mate as had the gt for a few years now so went to see him we established the coil was faulty got hold of the dealer and they exchanged the coil fine now

All the machines are as good or as bad as each other you just got to be lucky enough to put the coil over the right bit of ground. And  the goodies will be yours

I'm afraid Metalmonster you obviously didn't have the right conditions before as BBS simply works better, and deeper, on wet sand it's not an opinion it's a fact but the Safari probably does suit some peoples detecting style better than the BBS machines.
If you look at any forum across the world for posts relating to "the best VLF beach machine" the answer is always the Sov these answers are given by seasoned detectorists who have based their answers on experience not because the Sov is a pretty colour.
We all fall fowl of judging a machine by site specific conditions for me it was the Compass Coinscanner (1982) which got me 72 hammered coins from one relatively small field, was it the best machine ever? no of course it wasn't but it was the one I was using on that site.
I'll reiterate that ALL Sovs are the same, yes the very first ones didn't have shielding which cut down their overall performance but since then nothing has changed other than user controls. Wink
