Hi John. Fantastic find. However, I bet your partner is disappointed though with it being the wrong colour (ref. our discussion at the Shepton rally). Back in 2005 I found one similar in shape and the outer circle on the bezel was the same. Although I would have called it a seal ring the Treasure report described it as a large medieval signet ring. They gave a date of 15th or early 16th century.

Thanks everyone.  The bezel is raised proud Neil, yes.  I have e-mailed pics to the museum who would like to take a look at it.  And yes Ian, the missus is still trying to get me on the beaches after a band of gold  Grin  Hoping to get back to this field at the weekend.
