I Don't know and could be a million miles off but looks like it would maybe have had a matching end forming a hole in the middle and could maybe be a hanger of some kind or a purse bar maybe?

As said I probably am a million miles off but learning shapes of things myself as been looking through stacks of books over the couple of months to broaden my knowledge of things found.

Just had another look and changed my mind. Does look interesting though and I'm sure someone will know on here as there is some great collective knowledge.

Nice little find and it looks to be part of a dagger guard (Quillon) C15th-17th, similar to this
GLO-1D20F4" style="float:right;
Object type: Dagger

Broadperiod: Post Medieval

County of discovery: South Gloucestershire
