Hi all.  I'm going to look at a Garret 250 this afternoon.
My question is..... I read somewhere that if you dismantle the machine, you should NEVER disconnect the cable off the coil end, only at the controller end.( it damages the windings or something) ....  is this correct???   Therefore if I get there and he's boxed it up ready and done the above should I leave well alone.       He was a newbie to it aswell and didn't get along with the hobby and may not have known about that issue.
    Thnx again.

Your right there buddy, but you will find that the cable to the coil end is sealed, should be fine but try it out first, maybe in his garden.

Not at all Nemesis. We all started at the beginning and there's only one way to go and that's up. Wink

I'm amazed at how much I've learned in the short time I've been detecting...............and I know nothing  Roll Eyes

Welcome to the Forum. Just ask, there's always some one on here will have the answer.
