So I'm cleaning out my finds pouch from yesterday and came across this. First thoughts top off a pot but has a nobbly bit inside so could it be piece off bell if so could it be dated please.

looks like a crotal bell ,if it was cast in one piece would be after 1400 -1800

The suspension loop and collared top don't seem quite right for a crotal bell. It also looks to be a little on the thick side.

crotal bells are not all round , some are bell shaped

Yea it is rather on the thick side. Can you notice something has broken away on pic 3 inside tell you what I'd love too find the rest of whatever it is

It could have been a proper bell.  Maybe hung outside the front door. 
One of my neighbours has a reproduction antique one outside her back door. Bit of a waste of time 'cause she never hears it. Grin

Looks like a cow-bell, the larger version of a crotal bell.
