When purchasing a new MD what do you look for ?.

I'm reading a lot about the importance of the discrimination functions.

Thinking as well about the search coil being waterproof ,and the control housing ?.

So looking for something that can tick all those boxes, and anything else you think i need to consider.

Thanks.

consider were you will be detecting , inland or beach or both , some machines don't like wet sand due to high mineralization ( salt ) some like it ( minelab xs dfx etc ) all coilsare waterproof but not all housings and most are just water resistant at best so a control box cover is a must .

discrimination is built in to all machines but varies with each .

decide what type of detecting your interested in and buy a machine to suit your needs .

a great inland machine to get you started is the garrett ace 250 good discrim and will find the goodies but no good on the wet sand .

for inland and beach a minelab sovereign will do both easily , easy to set up and use and deeep inland and beach

Second hand minelab explorer would be good for a start off.
