Beach Program for Explorer SE Pro

Hi Guys,

what program do you use on the beach for your Explorers?  I have been struggling a bit lately.  I have tried the Tony Hunt program with everything open apart from nails using a 15" WOT coil.  Very noisy and unstable on the wet sand.  If I switch to the factory setting program it improves, but then am I missing things?

Any tips?  I'm thinking of getting a 10" coil to rough around in auto settings on the mud / stony beaches.  Or should I get a 10" x 12" SEF.  More so, what about the set up / program?  Any tips would be real grateful.

I like many others use the same program inland as I do on the beach, the only settings I change are sensitivity and audio gain. Tony's 1066 program is a ferrous setup which I personally wouldn't use in the UK unless coin shooting.
I think your noise is probably due more to the WOT than the machine and I'd advise getting a 13" Ultimate for it as it's a newer design.

Hi John,
I use the SE with the 12X15 SEF in wet sand and never get any problems.
HOWEVER, it will become unstable if your sensitivity is set "too high" when you get down into the very wet sand at low tides.
When in the dry sand you can run the detector at 28 to 30, but when in the wet sand i always reduce down to 25 or a slightly under.
Basically if the machine becomes unstable, lower your sensitivity.
If you are using the larger SEF coils. then you will still get a good depths even as low as 18 sensitivity.
