Hi,

here a find a made nearly 10 years ago. I'm not sure what it is, but I suspect it could be either the decorative part of an ancient fibula or it is a part of some modern gadget. Any hints peeps?

diameter 30mm
material looks like lead, but maybe its nickel? hard to tell.... it is not corroded and it is not copper or bronze,  ....?

Any an all guesses are welcome.

I would say pewter is the material. Maybe the centre piece of a horse harness decoration like below ?

Hi Rob,

yes pewter... of course... why didn't I think of that.... I knew it wasn't bronze but it wasn't quite heavy enough for lead either. Yes. it's pewter. Any idea about the age of a harness decoration of this kind?

thanks so much...
