Get yourself a border digging spade, preferably stainless with a bent over lip at the top, so it doesn't cut through your wellies.
You can get them from most garden centres, and they might be on offer this time of year.
Then set about it with an angle grinder and cut your own point on the bottom.
There a good length to work with ( me being 6'2") and not too heavy to carry around.
It should last you for ages.
