Hear is the coin being used in the test, iv placed it next to a 1p to show the size,
il also bury a roman grot the same size as the quarter to see the difference between the two and readouts.
I just ran my Tejon over the coin doing a air test it was picking it up at 5inches with the 10x12 coil on, im thinking that will half in the ground?

I hoping to do the test tomorrow.......... any other thoughts on setting the Deus Smiley

I'm certainly interested in what frequency / machine you found was best with the gold. I know that Chef doesn't rate the Minelabs on small gold - and I'm interested to see if I've missed anything Smiley - smallest gold item so far has been about 1gram...

When I say "not good" I'm talking about micro jewellery, chains, backs of earrings etc, even then it's not so much size as profile.
A quarter stater will always have a better profile than a cut quarter and minelabs find those OK but on edge that's a different story.
Fortunately for our sanity regardless of which machine we use we never know what we miss, a case of ignorance is bliss Wink

I don't think a Deus has much trouble finding those small quarter gold staters  Grin

It shouldn't have much trouble, if its lying right and not to deep, im just wondering what depth it will be lost and the readouts.

relichunting have you any settings you want tested?

Not really mate there are two versions being used V3.2 and V2

All my settings and programmes are for the earlier V2

As long as a Deus is correctly ground balanced and your using a slower reactivity speed of 1- 2 you should have no problems getting a quarter stater
