I think that there is a disclosure that we apply to by taking part in rallies where all parties are subject to be responsible for our own safety.

This is not a public event where people may attend without already first signing up but below a public event organised:-

I could imagine the MSA events where on entry where you PAY!!! You do so on the acceptance that Motorsport is dangerous. You must be aware that you are responsible for your own safety.
The MSA are not responsible for your safety before during or after the event.
Bla Bla Bla.....

Anyway
If your scared to open your door everyday..
If your worried the weather may effect your well being.

Just remember these facts
The landscape is uneven and mud is slippery when wet!!
Falling could cause severe embarrassment or injury or both.

I think I could recommend you stay in bed all warm and cosy or in front of your tv watching the rest of us live.

Also there are a few companies that sell accident insurance you may well be best call to cover yourself.

When I used to banger race in my younger days, clubs had to have liability insurance for
the paying spectators, but drivers and mechanics were required to take out their own insurance.

It's a members only rally and therefore is not a public rally in the true sense of the word and is outside any rules on public events (even those are governed by size/location).

Exactly, the rally has no PAYING SPECTATORS and it's not a club but a forum.

Motor sports would have there own insurance and they are responsible for your safety

I marshall at the Isle of Man TT races every year and this is certainly not the case, as we have to take private property into consideration ( 11 general public were injured this year). We are able to advise but at the end of the day they are at their own risk. This seems to be getting away from people with a like minded interest going out and have a fun day out on A Sunday. Why are we even on this subject??

When I park my car in a PUBLIC car park that I PAY for the privilege I have to forgo any claim against the council or people running the company. I park at my own risk... easy fix here is a condition of attendance that you do the same by the act of putting your name on the list and and attending. If you as an individual choose not to insure yourself for any third party for personal liability and its advised (which it is) then that's up to you, as you'll be the one being sued... easypeasy.  Also I kind of agree with cheffy its not a truely open event as only members can attend.

Here is a bit of a write up for you sounds like a good place to me,

The name of the village is recorded in Anglo-Saxon (in the dative case) as Soppanbyrig = "Soppa's fort" and in Domesday Book as Sopeberie. The name may refer to the Iron Age hill fort just to the north-east of the village. The fort, perched on the edge of the Cotswold escarpment, is enclosed on three sides by two parallel earthworks, and is open to the west, commanding an impressive view of the Frome Valley, Severn Vale and the Welsh mountains. The earth walls enclose an area of 11 acres (45,000 m2), and are usually kept mown by the local farmer (the fort is in private hands, but accessible). The fort can be reached by footpath from the A46 road, and through the village from below via the Cotswold Way. Below the fort are a group of ancient pillow mounds which are supposed to have been created by people who hoped rabbits would develop warrens there – providing a source of meat.

The Romans strengthened the fort for use as a camp to support their western frontier. In AD 577 the Saxon army used the fort as a camp before the battle of Dyrham, a few miles to the south.

Bishop Milred (743–755) granted the land at Soppenbyrig to Eanbald, and he to Eastmund, on condition that there was a man in Holy Orders, and worthy of them, in their family, but if otherwise, the lands would pass back to the See of Worcester. In 888 the covenant failed; however, the land was granted to Eadnoth in perpetuity for the rent of 15 shillings, payable to the See of Worcester yearly at Tetbury.

In Edward the Confessor's reign, the manor formed part of the estate of Brictric, Earl of Gloucester.

King Edward IV camped here in 1471 before attacking the army of Margaret of Anjou at the Battle of Tewkesbury

If it were free would you still think the organizers would be responsible for your safety and providing insurance cover?
I would say no, also the same for detecting wales rallies as these are run at very near cost and all funds collected are used to pay for land, run this website and costs involved to find new venues.

It could be looked into to see if a policy was available for individuals to pay an extra amount to cover themselves prior to each event. This is now often offered to children activities that clubs run. This is normally available from specialist event insurers.

Answer the following question to yourself.
Not rally related but on a casual day in the life.

If you walk across a field/path whilst on your way to any destination one day and fell.
Would you want to claim from the field the land owner or your footwear?

The field/path could be uneven through no fault of the land owner and are your shoes fit to walk across the field/path.

I remember going fishing a competition one day and I walked down rocks wearing suitable footwear and slid landing on my back.
It hurt more than my pride.
Event organizers were not responsible for my error in judgement in thinking the rocks were safe enough for me to walk down. My fault I walked that way, I was not taking care enough for my safety.

In life we have choices.
Some can effect us forever.

Careful on your next TRIP!!!

PUBLIC LIABILITY COVER

Any person allegedly injuring another or damaging another person’s property may have an action for compensation brought against them. This is as true of motor sport activity as of any other and it is for this reason that the ACU has arranged Public Liability insurance to protect its Affiliated Clubs, Local Centres, Officials, Sponsors and others who are involved in organising or running ACU permitted events. For these potential legal liabilities to be covered under the ACU policy, the Organisers must obtain an appropriate Permit or exemption from the ACU.

This was one of the reasons I put a previous question.
"no person has caused the injury".
Now if a land fault opened up and swallowed one of us then land owners public liability insurance would cover or the farmers union perhaps.

Going back to MSA they cover by way of a policy which is compulsory for competitors to pay for.
All spectators are not covered even though they pay to enter stages.
