I would have thought the ground would be to water logged for detecting,a lot of Somerset is still under water.

Relichunting, you're making assumptions about an area without knowing the exact area. Your comments regarding this rally have been constantly negative and I do sometimes wonder if you have a personal agenda.

Just to reiterate. I have been in contact with the farmer 3 times this week checking on the field conditions. The field we are parking in has excellent stony access. There is very little topsoil and drainage is excellent. The field is already firm enough to park in and has had no waterlogging, even through the heaviest of the rains.

I have never once been asked to produce my FID card on any of the rallies i attend its a waste of time having it really

It doesn't matter if you show it or not - if something happens whilst you are detecting that is your fault, then you could be liable for it.  Surely having that backup doesn't make it a 'waste of time'?

Things never quite go to plan. A friend always tells me "the best laid plans never go smoothly"
Well I know I will be gutted after all the finds are posted.
Next time perhaps I will be able to clear at the very least a day to detect with you all.

My gut feeling about this Rally is Saxon pennies, Gold milled and some nice artifacts.

Me not coming is probably a good thing. Remember Rooksbridge. I never made the Fest!!

Good luck to all of you and see you all soon my friends.
