No not really though as i say the older (large) ones are a bit that way and you've got to be careful what time of year it is as like brown trout they take on the flavour of what they have eaten so late autumn is better as the diet is practically wholy nuts and acorns. Wink

You saying that, Geoff, reminded me of some pork we had in the shop years ago.  It tasted of fish  Shocked  Goodness knows what they'd been fed but it def. came through in the taste.

Best we ever had was during a swine flu outbreak. Hundreds of sucking piglets going for next to nothing. I cooked a whole leg and it was fantastic.

I bet the fishy taste is when they use feed with high amount of fish oils in them. I've had meat that smelt like fish too. The cats liked it though  Wink

Camel sausages !! Now that IS special  Cheesy
They're well over prised for the horse meat though, just under £20 a kg for steak. Do people in the Uk really want to pay that for horse Huh

I would Wink purely because it's difficult to source but horse is always more expensive than beef even in France, when people get a cheap, tuff old steak on holiday and they say they think it was horse means they certainly haven't tried any, as horse is a far superior cut of meat.

Regular bought horse from my butcher back in Denmark and the price was something like 1/4 of beef. But maybe then it wasn't such a rarety. Wonder how well horse would go on UK restaurants though.
