Every now and again when using my head phones, I hear the sound of a drumming common snipe. The sound that is made by it's outer tail feathers when it's diving. But looking around, there is no diving snipe.

One of the funniest things I heard and saw was a Hen Pheasant.  I heard her startled call and looked up to see her RUNNING from a Fox.  Now I know where the idea of Walt Disneys Road Runner came from.  Only at the last minuet did she decide to fly, leaving Mr.Fox standing. Shame, I think he thought he was about to have his dinner.

Snipe are just as bad. They only decide to fly at the last second before you step on them. Heart in mouth job I don't mind admitting.
