I have been out with my White's Surf PI Dual Field getting used to the settings but there are A few things confusing me the machine is new when searching on the tide line I can't get A steady threshold At the moment I am running it on
pulse delay,, 7 o'clock
gain control,, factory settings
threshold  ,, ( chartering just  audible)
The problem I have is that when moving the coil searching I am getting  the same noise as when I lift the coil  1--2 ft  away from the ground like the threshold is too high the noise gets louder at the ends of the sweep  Huh I have been using A cover on the coil to protect it could this be the reason why its doing it  if water is getting trapped under the cover and moving between coil + cover  can anyone give me any ideas why its making the noises is it normal or is it faulty Huh
I am finding targets  x10  decimals x6 bobby pins  (hair clips) and the usual scrap not bad in x2 short trips x5 hrs in total

it's unlikely to be water moving about as the covers are pretty tight. check that you haven't got too much spare coil cable at the coil end, the slightest movement of the cable will register as a target and at the end of swings is where this movement would happen Huh

the tone is consistent all the swing getting louder at the end  of the movement I have wound the cable round the shaft evenly from the coil to the control box and fixed it with the Velcro straps provided there is just enough near the  to allow movement on  the coil if I need to alter the angle if the sand slopes..
Does it make A difrence which direction the cable is wound on the shaft (clock wise or anti clock wise )
