Found these two hammered coins that seem to be Edward pennies. But which Edward?
Can anyone tell me how to tell the difference between Edward 1st, 2nd and 3rd?

First one is an Edward I penny, London mint, Class 4d (identifiable by the pellet before EDWARD on the obverse and before CIVITAS on the reverse)

Second one I'm not sure about because the crown isn't clear, but I think is probably Edward I again, maybe Class 10? And Canterbury mint.

There isn't one sure way to ID these coins. Things that vary are the crown shape, the mint mark (usually a cross of various types), the style of lettering, the words in the legend, and the "drapery" (neck or collar). If the bust has definite shoulders, then it's not Edward I or II.  This book is excellent for Edward I and II pennies:

Wow, that was a quick ID. Thanks. The book that you suggested looks good. I might get a copy. Thanks

He is quick Imnotin, don't know how you do it so fast Peter must have taken a lot of study in the past to recognise certain aspects of the coins, maybe I give up too easily !  Shocked
