Found this leather purse today which contains a 1897 six pence and what looks to be 3 copper coins. I would like to preserve it as it is. Can I ? And what's the best way of doing it ?

Great find Joel, id also like to preserve the purse and keep its contence in.
I'm sure it will keep better now its out the ground anyway, but as long as it don't dry right out and go stiff, so id try some clear leather boot wax to keep it soft.....

I found a similar purse last year with 3 silver coins in it. unfortunately it fell to pieces.
As Dale said I'd try some Dubbin on it, available at all good army surplus stores

There's this product - I don't know if it's any good:

Well i wrapped it in cling film last night and this morning it just fell apart, so now it's in the bin and coppers are soaking in oil to try and shift some of the green that's on them
