Well I finally sent my Garrett Pro Pointer back to Detecnicks today for repair.
I bought it new in April of this year and it really is a cracking bit of kit while it is working.
For the past couple of months though it's been falsing a lot, beeping while in the hole
and still beeping when out. It got so bad last weekend that I really couldn't tell where in the
ground a particular object was. To make matters worse it started switching itself off but only
now and again and the speaker has started to crackle. [But apart from that it's fine  Grin ]
So finally I decided to phone detecnicks yesterday, and the man I spoke to
said it was a regular thing. In fact he told me what the fault was before I could tell him lol.
I posted it off this morning.
I know that this topic has been spoke about before on this forum but my question is, if so many people are having a the same problem with the Pro Pointer, then why haven't Garrett sorted out the problem.

I am surprised when I read of all the problems others have had. I have been using mine for nearly a year now without any problem at all. Perhaps I am one of the lucky few. It could be that I do not use mine every time I dig, only on those stubborn ones where you can't seem to locate. So, perhaps I am not hammering it as much as others. I guess that's the kiss of death now.

Maybe thats it . I try and get an hour or two in most evenings and use it in almost every dig.
Let's hope that the repair works Sad

Dryland do you cover yours with anything? There have been a lot of suggestions on this site previously about this. I have covered mine in clingfilm and then masking tape. If you use a bright colour it will help to locate it if you forget to pick it up.

No the only thing I've covered is the speaker.

I don't know, but it's probably got something to do with alcohol Grin

I got sea water in mine and it started falsing and staying on when not in contact with metal I looked for a solution online and found one on the minelab website, all you have to do is squirt WD40 into the body of your probe, take out the battery and spray the WD40 on to the battery terminals, you can take off the switch cover and spray it in the hole put the cover back on and replace the battery cover and tilt the probe back and fore a few times then remove the battery cover and let the excess fluid drain out. I did this to mine
and it's working great,WD40 is a moisture displacing fluid and will not damage the circuits. Hope this helps. Grin
