hi found this on swansea beach last year have no idea what it is , it weighs about 8oz, think its lead, size as the picture  ant ideas  thanks  mick

YES I WOULD SAY ITS FOR REPAIRING FISHING NETS TOO  AS THEY STILL USE  PLASTIC ONES DOWN IN CORNWALL

thanks to you all for the ideas of what it is, i thought of the lure but not the net repairer, that makes a lot of sense, and there used to be old fish traps etc where it was found, great id thanks   mick
