Hi Folks,

Had a go in a nice field a few days a go. I've got three objects for you identifying geniuses.  Smiley

1. An Edwardian hammered but can't work out which Edward.
2. A worn copper coin which is just like a George III penny but you can only see an outline of a head and it doesn't look like George III. The hair looks like a plaited bun. Unfortunately the other side is completely worn. But I was wondering whether it could be a Colonial coin?
3. Is a bit random, but the farmer was very intrigued. It's a big lump (I think it's bronze). About 5 inches long.

Many thanks to anyone who has a go. Cheers, Kevin.

Cheers Herbie, medieval perhaps? Shame the pot wasn't full of coins!

Nice work Kevin Wink
Pot legs are generally pigeon holed as "Post-Medieval" but could be anywhere from Medieval to Georgian but always a nice find to make.
The large coin is a Macclesfield Halfpenny, that's the second one this week on DW, heres a link for you;

For my money it looks like an Edward III, London mint but that's using only knowledge, I'm sure the Doc or Probono will be along soon and they use "Dark Magic" to id so they may think differently Grin

Hi Chef,

Thanks very much for the identification. I was searching all over the internet for Colonial coins and such and come to a complete dead end. Much appreciated.  Grin

I'd originally thought it might have been a John Wilkinson Iron Master penny token, but it's all in the hair - that wig is quite distinctive!

And the penny has (by the looks of it) a bifoliate crown, so I'm going with late Ed I, class 10 of some sort Smiley
