It always amazes me , that these coins have been in the ground for around 1700 years and they come up better than the coins we have in circulation at the present time , I guess they didn't get passed through so many hands then !

Silver, gold and platinum are pure elements therefore they do not react as badly as Copper or Bronze. That is why they come up as is I suppose,Alan?
