As Jan has said bgf. We gridded the area and wandered, with nothing but beach junk coming to light.

Do you KNOW it was lost in that location, or was it noticed missing whilst you were there? The number of people who worked that area with top of the range
machine would surely have come across it if it had been there. Could it perhaps have slipped off beforehand and only noticed when you were sitting down on that location? Just trying to understand the overall picture.
Its a large beach so if it has been lost elsewhere!!! I suggest you leave your contact details with one of the admin on here, so if ever it does come to light, someone will be able to contact you.

Well done Tafflaff.

There has to be a better way of helping the general public than announcing all the details to the opportunist to go and do what the want surely?

Perhaps requests could be submitted to admin only. Then an appeal put out to the local club to the loss with instruction that only accountable members of that club
are given all the facts.

As it is now, virtually anybody could have gone to this location and found the item in question with no accountability!

Very good point, I will create a sticky post in the Lost items section, advising people not to put specifics on open forum.

We've put up a "beach tent" (not sure if this is the right term for it) in the region that I described to you. My wife had the ring on her finger, but deposited it in a inside-pocket of the tent before going into water. We forgot all about it while folding the tent and then went back to the camping, where we realized what we've done. We got the tent out at the camping site, but we didn't find any ring in it.

So my assumption is that the ring was either lost when folding the tent on the beach, or slipped out somehow when unfolding the tent at the camp-site, without being seen. But I guess one's not allowed to metal-detect on a camping site?!? The surface is grass... I did attach an image with the place where we unfolded the tent, just in case Smiley

I had some problems PM-ing the admin in the first days here (the captcha image wasn't displayed, and the audio-captcha didn't work either, but a captcha was requested in order to send a private message), but now I can PM w/o a captcha - that's the reason I gave all these informations "openly".

Thank you so very much, DW-community!!! Smiley

If its grass, its likely to be on the surface, so no digging should be necessary.

The campsites name is Carreglwyd, know it well. The camp area is called "The seafront" camped there for years with mates.
Tel: 01792 390795    Think the managers name is Ken!
I cant see them having a problem with detecting there if the reason why is given.
