There is no Explorer XP, They were made in series thus;
Explorer XS
Explorer 2
Explorer SE
Explorer SE Pro
Etrac
CTX 3030

I presume your asking the difference between the XS and the 2?
The standard coil was improved, the display showed ferrous as well as conductive numbers, it behaved slightly better on mineralised sights. and that was about it Wink

I use the original XS just my preference as there isn't much difference in performance between any of them. Minelab are very good at making people spend more money by shuffling functions and giving it a new name Undecided

Yes and nicer tones I would say plus you have all the info on the smartscreen as you do on the Etrac.
Anyone just coming into FBS machines I would advise to go for the newer, SE or Etrac, purely because they are more user friendly but as for ability there is not a lot in it and if you want FBS at a good price then the XS or 2 are worth looking at.

Used an Explorer 2 for about 6 or 7 years - I really struggle to fault it on pasture or beaches. Not the best on fresh ploughed, but that's a whole other topic.

Think I paid £300 for it back then scond hand.

As Geoff said apart from the new whistles I don't think the Explorer range has changed that much in ten years.
