Recent tests on bronze furnace slag found  by detectorists ,suggests it is local ore and is from two from areas which bronze age mauls have been found..We do find a small number of Roman finds here, but not many..Only oine possible Roman signal station facing the Cumbrian stations and forts..We also have lead and iron ore in  quantity ..If the Romans were dealing in minerals and ore from here ..It mighjt explain why they didnt occupy us..You dont get heavy with your suppliers do you ..If its true it would explain alot...But iam going to sit down and watch a programme on Mermaids on Wednesday Smiley
